Welcome to Trina’s Kitchen!
Learning how to preserve your foods at home is not only a great way to save money and time spent in the store but you also know what goes into the food you eat and your body to stay healthy. I started learning how to preserve my own foods a few years back when I moved to the Midwest. With the amount of farms around and learning how to grow my own garden, I had plenty of access to fruits and vegetables which I wanted to save all year long. My first attempt at preserving food was to make strawberry jam. I went to a local strawberry field and picked my own strawberries and came home and canned them. After that experience I wanted to do more home preservation and found the value of preserving food at home which not only saved me money in the long run but I knew exactly what was in the food I was eating.
I have now been preserving foods at home for the past six years with last year being my biggest year ever. My husband and I planted a huge garden which I took a weeks vacation from work just to preserve all the fruits and vegetables that we grew. It was a lot of hard work but in the end I got a freezer full of food and less trips to the grocery store.
With this in mind, I created “Trina’s Kitchen” as my own personal online recipe cookbook to share with you some of my favorite recipes for cooking and home preservation. In this site you will also find recipes written by others who I have tried and reviewed, marinades that my husband has created, lessons on home preservation and our a yearly personal account of our garden. This is a new website so information will continued to be added on a regular basis and I would love to read your comments so please feel free to leave them.
